SAN DIEGO (AP) J.P Crawford homered, doubled and drove in three runs for the Seattle Mariners, who beat San Diego 8-3 Tuesday night to snap the Padres' seven-game winning streak.

Austin Nola also homered for the Mariners, who won their fourth straight and for the fifth time in six games. Nola and Evan White had three hits apiece.

Marco Gonzales (3-2) helped deny the Padres what would have been their longest winning streak since 2012. He allowed three runs - all in the third - on nine hits while striking out five and walking none in five innings in his second career start against the Padres.

"Nice ballgame. That was a fun one," Mariners manager Scott Servais said. "It certainly starts with the guy on the mound. It was one of the more professional outings Marco has given us all year. I say that in the fact it wasn't easy for him. Last time out was probably as good as he's been all year at Dodger Stadium and tonight it was a little bit of a struggle.

"They kind of had him on the ropes in the third inning but he was able to kind of battle through it and give us five innings."

Gonzales said it "was a grind. They have a good lineup. They're balanced. They were aggressive in different counts than we were anticipating. We had to pivot a little bit, especially after the third inning. We saw them leaning one way so we kind of pivoted our game plan. You have to make adjustments."

Crawford hit a two-run home run off Padres starter Chris Paddack (2-3) in the second and an RBI double in the sixth off Tim Hill.

The Mariners jumped on Paddack early, taking a 4-0 lead on Crawford's shot to straightaway center field with one out in the second, his first. Dee Gordon was aboard on a single. Kyle Seager hit a sacrifice fly and White had an RBI single in the first.

After allowing Crawford's homer and Sam Haggerty's single in the second, Paddack retired the next 11 batters.

Nola then homered to left-center leading off the sixth, his fifth. White doubled to chase Paddack and scored on Crawford's two-out double.

The Mariners added on with RBI singles by White and Tim Lopes in the eighth.

The Mariners were coming off a three-game home sweep of the Texas Rangers, the same team the Padres swept in a four-game, home-and-home set last week.

Crawford made two nice catches of line drives by Hosmer, including a great diving catch for the second out in the seventh.

The Padres closed to 4-3 with a two-out rally in the third on their second time through the order, highlighted by Eric Hosmer's moonshot, two-run homer into the porch in right field. It was his sixth. Manny Machado, who had three hits, was aboard on a double. Wil Myers and Ty France followed with consecutive doubles before Gonzales got rookie Jake Cronenworth to fly out.

Paddack allowed six runs and eight hits in five innings, struck out seven and walked one.

"Tonight I'm probably not going to get much sleep," Paddack said. "I'm not just talking about tonight, I'm talking about the last four to five starts. I haven't been pleased with myself. I need to get back to the Chris Paddack I was last year.

"I need to make less mistakes. I made too many mistakes in big time situations. That's usually not me. Overall it's my fastball. It hasn't been there. It's been frustrating for me personally. Especially when the boys are on a seven-game win streak. I want to be the spark plug for the boys. ... I'm pretty hard on myself."

San Diego shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr., who came up big at the plate and in the field during the winning streak, was 0 for 5 and didn't reach base

Padres: Manager Jayce Tingler said LH reliever Drew Pomeranz is playing catch, "which is a very positive sign." Pomeranz was placed on the 10-day IL

Mariners: RHP Taijuan Walker (2-2, 4.00 ERA) is scheduled to start Wednesday night. He's 3-1 with a 1.33 ERA with 28 strikeouts and four walks in five career starts vs. San Diego, and 2-0 without allowing a run in two starts at Petco Park.

Padres: RHP Dinelson Lamet (2-1, 1.89) is set to go for San Diego.
