League Message

  • DyNasty Fantasy Baseball Rules

    I. LEAGUE STRUCTURE

    A. The league will play a H2H points based format where each team will play against one other team each week. Teams will recieve 1 win, 1 loss, or 1 tie for the week.

    B. Weekly play will begin on Mondays and end on Sundays.

    C. The league will be comprised of 16 teams in one large division.

    D. The player pool will be a mixed pool of major and minor leaguers from both the American and the National League.

    E. Each team is expected to have a team name and a logo uploaded to the FanTrax server every season.

    F. Teams may change their name during the offseason, but please refrain from changing mid-season to prevent confusion on team ownership.

    II. ROSTERS - OVERVIEW

    A. Each team will be expected to maintain a roster of 25 players, capable of filling out a starting lineup. This roster will consist of 18 starting players and 7 bench players.

    B. In addition to the 25 player active roster, each owner will have a 15 player minor-league roster, where they will be able to sign players with a real-life status of minor leagues, inactive, or free agent.

    C. Team rosters will be filled during an initial live draft, somewhere near the start the baseball season, determined by the owners of the league to have the highest attendance possible.

    D. A team's starting lineup consists of one slot at each infield position (catcher, first base, second base, third base, and shortstop), three outfielder slots, one utility slot (that any positional player can start in), three starting pitcher slots, and four relief pitcher slots.

    i. An offensive player is eligible to fill a position if he:

    a. Played in 10 or more major- or minor-league games at that position in the current season or

    b. Played in 20 or more major- or minor-league games at that position in the preceding year.

ii. A pitcher is eligible to fill a starting pitcher slot if he:

    a. Starts 3 or more major- or minor-league games in the current season or

    b. Starts 5 or more major- or minor-league games in the preceding year.

iii. A pitcher is eligible to fill a relief pitcher slot if he:

    a. Appears 5 times as a reliever in a major- or minor-league game in the current seasons or

    b. Appears 8 times as a reliever in a major- or minor-league game in the preceding year.

iv. Players can tabulate statistics only in official major league baseball games.

    v. Players are locked into a position spot 5 minutes before their game starts.

    E. The player pool is comprised of all players in all Major League and Minor League baseball organizations, as well as players who in the past have been under contract to play baseball in the Major or Minor Leagues.

    III. THE DRAFT

    A. The Inaugural Draft

    i. The inaugural draft will be a 40 round serpentine draft of players currently in the FanTrax database. Players NOT in the database at the time of the draft are not eligible to be drafted.

ii. The inaugural draft order will be determined by a random number generator.

iii. The inaugural draft will be used to build a teams 25 man active roster, as well as their 15 man "fantasy minor league" roster. See V. Rosters - In Season for more information on "fantasy minor leaguers".

iv. During the inaugural draft, rosters will not have any roster limits. However, post-draft, the active roster will be locked down to 25-man active and 15-man minor league rosters, at which time each owner will be expected to make roster moves to make their team legal again.

    v. When it is an owners turn to select a new player during the draft, they will have 1:30 minutes to make a selection. If no selection is made, a player will be automatically chosen for the team by the draft system.

    v. If an owner is not present at the draft, their pick will be automatically chosen for the team by the draft system..

    B. The Yearly Amateur Draft

    i. The yearly amateur draft will be a 5 round non-serpentine draft.

ii. The draft will occur via message board approximately 1 week after the end of the MLB June Amateur Draft.

iii. The drafted amateurs will be recorded and tracked via a seperate Google Drive Document for the league.

iv. Players in the current Fantrax database cannot be drafted.  The AMA Draft is ONLY for the incoming class of rookies, High School and International players. Players signed via International posting process are ineligible.

    v. Draft order is determined by the reverse order of the previous season's team ranks and will be the same in all rounds.

vi. Once a player has been added to the FanTrax database, the commissioner will add the player to the minor league roster of the team that drafted him, which will require the team to make an additional roster move to make space for the new addition.

vii. You may not make any trades during the draft.  Trade discussion is acceptable, however no trades can be processed or acted upon from the time the draft goes live until teams involved in the trade both have full rosters as defined above.

    IV. SCORING

    A. Hitters pitching stats and pitchers hitting stats will never count in any circumstance.

    B. Any "early" games during the first week of the season (ie 2 games played in Australia in 2014) will not count towards season stats.

    C. During a period, a roster may only recieve seven starts from their pitching staff to simulate one game started per day. Any starts tallied after the initial seven will not count towards that scoring periods total.

    D. H2H points based scoring via the following table:

    Scoring System
    Hitting Points    Pitching Points
Single 5.6 Pts.    SP: Inning Pitched 7.4 Pts.
Double 8.5 Pts.    RP: Relief App. 2 Pts.
Triple 11.3 Pts.    Hit Against -2.6 Pts.
Homerun 15 Pts.    HR Against -12.3 Pts.
Walk or HBP 3 Pts.    Strikeout 2 Pts.
At Bat -1 Pt.    Walk or HBP -3 Pts.
Stolen Base 1.9 Pts.    Save 4 Pts.
Caught Stealing -2.8 Pts.    Hold 3 Pts.

    V. ROSTERS - IN SEASON

    A. Starters can be changed daily by each team owner from the players available on their active roster.

    B. A player may be in the minor leagues if they have one of three real life designations:

    i. Minor Leagues: This player is currently on a minor league roster for a major league baseball affiliate.

ii. Inactive: Players that have a history of playing major league baseball but are not currently active.

iii. Free Agent: This player is currently not under contract with a team but may in the future.

    C. A "fantasy minor leaguer" may stay in the minor leagues indefinitely, however, once they are promoted to the active roster, they may only be demoted back to the minors if their state returns to one of those previously mentioned real life designations.

    D. Teams have unlimited DL spots.

    E. Players may only be added to the DL if they are officially suspended or listed on the DL by a major league club.

    F. Once a player is deemed healthy and removed from the real life DL, a team has a seven day grace period to remove the player from the DL and reinstate them to their active roster or minor leagues (given that they are eligible). If this does not occur, the team will be locked down from making any transactions until the offense has been fixed.

    VI. ADDING AND DROPPING PLAYERS

    D. Teams place a blind bid on any free agent player with a minimum bid of $0.00.

    E. Free agent bids are processed on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3am. The team that bids the highest amount will have that total subtracted from their FAAB total for the season and the player will be added to their team.

    L. In the case of a tie bid, the player will be awarded to the team with lower ranking in the standings.

    M. Transactions can be requested from two week prior to the start of the fantasy baseball season until the last day of the fantasy playoffs.

    VII. TRADES

    A. Trades are allowed at any and all times, except from midnight prior to the start of the playoffs through the end of the fantasy playoffs.

    B. Uneven trades are allowed, although they will be handled as follows: If team A is acquiring 3 players while trading 1 to B, team A must stay below or at the 40-man limit or must also cut 2 additional players of their choosing in accordance with the rules in section V.

    C. Amateur draft picks may be traded as far out as three years in the future (ie: currently midseason 2014, then you can trade '15, '16, '17).

    D. FAAB dollars may not be traded.

    E. After a trade is confirmed, the commissioner will approve the trade.

    F. While all trades should be approved, the commissioner reserves the right to ask for justification for the trade if he deems it questionable.

    VIII. SCHEDULE & PLAYOFFS

    A. Matchups are divided so that each team will play each other once per season.

    B. The regular season will last 15 scoring periods of one week each.

    C. The season will start on the first Monday of the regular season.

    D. The top eight teams will go to the playoffs each season.

    E. Playoff seeding is determined with the top seed being the team with the best record down through the team with the eighth best record.

    F. Playoff berths and seeding are based on the following criteria and tiebreakers:
