League Message

  • For the opening season there will be an 8 round Entry (Farm) Draft.  Any Forward or Defensemen under the age of 24 and under 150 games played will be eligible to be taken as well as any Goaltender under the age of 24 and under 60 games started.  After the Entry Draft is complete the farm teams will be recorded and the draft will be reset so that the Waiver (Regular) Draft can take place.  The Waiver Draft will be set to the reverse order of the Entry Draft (whichever team that had the last pick in the Entry Draft will have the first pick in the Waiver Draft).  After the Waiver Draft is complete the players taken in the Entry Draft can be added to each team’s minor league roster.  Future drafts will be less complicated.

    Teams:

          - Team names will be that have actual NHL teams.
          - Western division teams will be placed in the Western division in this league.  The same for Eastern.

    Roster Moves:

          - There is a maximum of 75 moves for the regular season.
          - There is no limit on trades.
          - Players must have played at least 1 NHL game to be on your active roster.

    Draft Eligible:

          - In order for a player to be eligible to be drafted in the Waiver Draft he must have played in an NHL game.
That player must also have their rights owned by a NHL team, be signed by a NHL team, or be a Free Agent.
Any player signed by another organization and does not have any affiliation with a NHL team cannot be
             selected.
          - Exceptions for the Waiver Draft are for any player over the Minors age limit that sign with a NHL team and have
not played in a NHL game yet.  If that player does not play in 1 NHL game by the end of the season their rights
become forfeit and they must be dropped (ie they cannot be chosen as a keeper).
          - In order for a player to be eligible to be drafted in the Entry Draft forwards & defenseman must be 24 years
old or under and played in less than 150 NHL games.  Goalie game limit is set at less than 60 games.

    Minors Team Eligibility:

          - 10 players in total.
          - Forwards & Defensemen must be 24 or under and played less than 150 NHL games.  Goalies must be of
same age and played less than 60 NHL games.
          - Players that have surpassed the eligibility limits cannot be sent back to the Minors.
          - Players that go over the eligibility requirements during the regular season can remain on the Minors roster until
the next season at which point they must be put on the NHL roster or dropped.  If they are moved off the
Minors roster at any point after going over the limits that player cannot be put back.
          - You may only move a player from your Minors roster to your NHL roster if they have played a game in the NHL.
          - Players must have been signed or drafted by an NHL team.

    Roster Protection:

          - At the end of each year teams must choose 13 players to protect from their active roster. These are the
players that are over the age of 24 as of Oct 1st of the year the draft takes place.
          - If you have players that meet the minors eligibility rules, you will not need to protect them.  They are exempt
if you so choose to keep them for next year without counting toward the keeper limit. This includes your
             minors players also.
           - Teams must keep at least 1/2 their Minors roster going into the next season.
           - Once all teams have submitted their Keeper/Exempt/Minors/Cut lists the regular season begins.
                  a) Teams are free to trade both players and draft picks
                  b) Waiver adds are forbidden until after both drafts

    Illegal Minors:

          - Teams will be given a couple of warnings at the beginning of the season.
          - After that the 1st violation will result in 3 days of not accumulating stats, 2nd violation of 5 days, 3rd violation
             of 7 days.
          - After a 3rd violation in a season more severe penalties will need to be explored.

    Draft Order:

          - MINORS DRAFT:  The consolation bracket will determine picks 1-8.  The team that wins the bracket receives
the #1 overall pick.  The playoff bracket will determine picks 9-16 with the winner receiving the #16 overall
            pick
          - WAIVER DRAFT:  The first place team will be rewarded with the first overall choice. The last place team will
be given the 16th overall pick.
          - Waiver Draft will snake.  Minors draft will not.

    Draft Pick Trading:

          - Draft picks can be traded up to 1 year in the future for both drafts; Waiver and Minors.
          - League Manager will keep track of all draft picks trades in a thread on the league forum.
          - Teams cannot trade draft picks they cannot use.  Meaning that if you only have 3 open spots on your roster you
cannot trade your 5th Round pick because you can't actually use it.
          - Trades that have pieces that cannot be put into the normal trade offer must be put into a thread of the league
message board and confirmed by both parties.

    League Etiquette:
        - Respond to trades and e-mails in a timely manner.
        - Provide feedback on trade offers over flat out rejections.
        - Try to reel back on the harsh language when responding back.  Some owners views on the value of certain types
of players differ (ie prospects, pitchers, hitters, even draft picks).
        - Try to keep discussions over chat and threads at least semi-civil.  Don't air dirty laundry over either.
        - Let the LM know if you're going to be away for any time over a week.  They don't need to know the particulars of
your personal life but just a quick heads up.
        - Check into the league at least once per week.
