The San Diego Padres have decided to shut down pitching prospect Chris Paddack for the year in his first season back from Tommy John surgery. The team's No. 5 prospect struck out 120 batters in 90 innings between Single-A and Double-A, and he also held left-handed hitters to a .148/.193/.227 line. Paddack will likely start in the minors again next season, but if he continues to excel he could be an option for the Friars rotation later in the year in 2019. Remember his name in dynasty leagues.
