League Message

  • Welcome to Camelidae Dynasty!

    You might not know it, but the Camelidae Family are hockey fanatics and they annually hold a NHL fantasy league.
    16 teams are battling out each year for fame and prizes and offcourse the well-known Camelidae Trophy.

    Most of the rules of the competition are mentioned above. Here are some additional rules:

    General

    Communication: GM's are encouraged to use Slack (camelidaedynasty.slack.com).
    Entry fee: Must be paid one week before start of inaugural draft.

    Draft
    Inaugural draft: Consists of 30 rounds. First 23 rounds for Main Roster, last 7 for Minors.
    • Goalie restriction: Each team must pick exactly 1 goalie in the first 3 rounds.
    Entry Draft: Consists of 7 rounds.
    • Lottery: 8 Non-Playoff teams take part in the lottery for the first 3 picks, similar to NHL. Every team gets a number of lottery balls for each lottery according to the following table

    Anti-Tanking
    Every manager must achieve 1000 skater games and 60 goalie starts during the season. If one or more of these conditions are not achieved, the offending manager's highest draft pick in the following draft will be moved to the end of the draft.

    Statistically speaking, this should be very easy to achieve with a full roster and a starting goalie along with a backup goalie (even with an injury-ridden team). This rule has only been put in place as an anti-tanking measure.

    Minors
    Player Prospect Eligibility 

    If a player has reached 50 games in their NHL career (25 career GP for goalies) they are no longer considered a prospect. They can not be added to a prospect slot. These players need to be brought onto the main roster or waived 

    One Asterisk *: Player is a skater in a prospect slot who has less than 50 career games played or a goalie in a prospect slot who has less than 25 career games played who is taking up a prospect slot on your roster.

    Two Asterisk **: Player is a skater in a prospect slot who has played 50 career games played or more or a goalie in a prospect slot who has 25 career games played or more. These players can not be dropped in favor of another prospect. They may remain on your minor league roster until 24 hours before the start of our league Entry draft in the offseason. 

    Please note: The asterisks on a player are manually edited by the commissioners. This means one or two may occasionally slip through the cracks. Please notify us if you see a case of this.
     
    If you want to add a prospect to your prospect roster, you must drop an existing prospect in place of him. Only add/drop prospects in the same transaction. If not done in the same transaction it will not be honored and will be reversed.** players can not be dropped in favor of another prospect. 
     
    You may only gain a new prospect slot via trade or draft and there is no limit to the amount of prospect slots on your team.
     
    You may only add any player or prospect to your team whose rights are owned by an NHL organization.
     
    Only players with an Asterisk(*) are eligible to be placed in the minor leagues. What this means is that if you want to add a minor league eligible player(less than 50 games) to your main roster you may not move him down to your minor leagues. You can not swap that player out for another prospect without that player clearing waivers. 

    For example, If Nico somehow goes undrafted in our prospect draft, and someone adds him to their MAIN roster he would not receive an Asterisk and therefore you may not under any circumstances put him down in you minor league system. if you wanted to move him down what you would need to do is drop him, allow him to clear waivers and then add him to your team in favor of a prospect that has a single Asterisk. 

    Players with a single Asterisk can be moved between the main roster and the minor leagues as much as you would like as long as there is room on your main roster for an additional player. Moving an Asterisk player to your main roster does not open up another prospect slot for you to add an additional minor leaguer, the Asteriks player is tied to that slot and when they graduate you lose that prospect slot. You may choose to drop that player before the 50 game mark in favor of another prospect, but the dropped prospect must clear waivers if you want to add them to your main roster. 

    Player Free Agency Restrictions

    a) Any UFA signing out of a non-NHL professional league will be placed on waivers before they are eligible to be claimed.

    b) If a UFA player's last contract was a non-NHL pro contract they must clear waivers upon their return to the NHL before being claimed.

    c) If a UFA player's last contract was an NHL contract they can be picked up right as they sign without the need for waivers.

    d) UFA players owned by League teams and then dropped to free agency may only be claimed if their most recent professional contract was an NHL contract.

    e) Players who are still RFA can always be claimed - since their rights are owned by an NHL organization. RFA signings do not require waivers.

    Camelidae Trophy
    The Camelidae Trophy is a separate competition within this league. The team that holds the trophy at the end of each season wins a prize ($25).
    • Initial holder is decided by the standings after round 1 in the inaugural season. If there is a tie, the decision is moved on to the next round. That is being repeated until the initial holder is known.
    • A team can take over the trophy by winning a H2H match against the current holder.
    • The trophy can't be lost/taken during the playoffs.
    • A team that wins the trophy at the end of a season, will be the initial holder in the next season, unless the owner of the team changes, in which case the holder is determined again by the standings.
