EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) Ryan Taylor and Jaylon Brown each scored 22 points, David Howard added 21 points and Evansville beat Drake 87-70 Tuesday night for its fourth straight win.
Graham Woodward made a 3 for Drake to reduce its deficit to 55-52 with 13:14 remaining. But Evansville countered with a pair of Dru Smith free throws, Taylor hit a 3, and Howard made a pair of free throws to extend the lead 10 in less than a two-minute span.
After the teams exchanged 3s, Evansville (14-14, 5-10 Missouri Valley) scored six straight and led 71-55. Drake (7-20, 5-10) couldn't get closer than 11 points the rest of the way.
Evansville was 33 for 57 (58 percent) from the floor while Drake was 23 for 52 (44 percent). The two teams were a combined 31 for 34 from the foul line. Evansville had the edge on the glass 35-20.
Reed Timmer led Drake with 20 points and Woodward scored 11. Drake has dropped six straight and seven of its last eight.
