Utah Valley stuns New Mexico St. 84-72, ends home win streak
Thu Feb 23, 2017 11:27 PM

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) Kenneth Ogbe and Ivory Young each scored 16 points and led Utah Valley to a surprise 84-72 win against New Mexico State Thursday night, ending the Aggies' 14-game home win streak.

New Mexico State entered the game with a five-game winning streak against the Wolverines. Utah Valley hadn't beaten the Aggies since Feb. 27, 2014 in a 66-61 overtime win at Orem, Utah.

Utah Valley (12-15, 4-8 Western Athletic) entered Thursday's game having lost four of its last five. The Wolverines used a 22-3 run over a 7 1/2-minute span in the second half to stun the Aggies and grabbed a 69-52 lead on Ogbe's 3 with 6:45 left to play.

Young was near perfect from the floor making all four of his shots and 7 for 8 from the foul line. Brandon Randolph finished with 15 points and Jordan Poydras had 14 for the Wolverines, who shot 27 for 49 (55 percent) from the field.

Ian Baker had 21 points for New Mexico State (23-5, 9-3), Matt Taylor 11, Jemerrio Jones and Braxton Huggins 10 each and Eli Chuha grabbed 10 boards. The Aggies shot 27 for 70 from the floor (39 percent), 5 for 27 from 3 (19 percent) and 13 for 28 (46 percent) from the foul line.
