Zabo, De La Rosa spark Kent State to 70-69 victory
Fri Jan 12, 2018 9:23 PM

KENT, Ohio (AP) Kevin Zabo scored 24 points and Adonis De La Rosa scored on a jump hook with 21 seconds remaining to lead Kent State past Ohio 70-69 on Friday night.

Kent led 37-31 at halftime before Ohio (8-8, 1-3 Mid-American) rallied and tied it at 67-all with 2:40 remaining on Gavin Block's 3-pointer. Teyvion Kirk layup gave the Bobcats a 69-68 lead with two minutes left.

De La Rosa scored for the lead and Zabo went to the line with three seconds left. He missed the first free throw, and, after a Kent State timeout, ricocheted the second off the front of the rim and back to himself and he dribbled out the clock.

Zabo made four 3-pointers and the Golden Flashes (8-9, 2-2) sank 8 of 18 from the arc.

Kirk scored 17 points to lead Ohio with Mike Laster adding 11 and Block and Jordan Dartis 10 each.
