VESTAL, N.Y. (AP) Trae Bell-Haynes scored 21 points and Vermont won its 11th straight game, 68-54 over Binghamton on Wednesday night, giving the Catamounts a record 340 American East Conference wins.
Drew Urquhart added 15 points for the Catamounts (18-5, 8-0), who extended their regular-season conference win streak record to 29, the longest active conference streak in the country. Payton Henson had 12 points and Ernie Duncan 10.
Vermont closed the first half with a 14-4 run to lead 32-23 at the break. The Bearcats (10-14, 1-8), who lost their fifth straight, cut the deficit to three five minutes into the second half, but Bell-Haynes hit a 3 and Henson followed with a layup for Vermont. After exchanging baskets for several possessions, Vermont scored seven straight and the lead stayed in double figures for the last 11 minutes.
Everett Duncan had nine rebounds and Bell-Hayes, who also had six assists, had eight as the Catamounts had a 45-31 advantage.
Tyler Stewart had 12 points for Binghamton, which was celebrating the opening of the Events Center.
