BOSTON (AP) Alex Petrie scored 20 points, Lukas Jarrett had 13 points with nine rebounds and Lafayette defeated Boston University 79-72 on Wednesday night, snapping a four-game losing streak.
Justin Jaworski added 12 points and six assists and Kyle Stout scored 11 for the Leopards (6-16, 3-8 Patriot League). Stout and Petrie both made three 3-pointers and Lafayette hit on 10 of 23 from beyond the arc.
Tyler Scanlon continued his recent upswing, scoring 28 points with four 3-pointers and seven rebounds for the Terriers (11-13, 4-7). Scanlon, who averages 13.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, had his first two career double-doubles last week, averaging 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in the two games. Max Mahoney, BU's leading scorer at 17.8 ppg, scored 10 points on 5-of-13 shooting. BU made six of its first 10 3-pointers before finishing 7 of 17.
Jaworski's 3-pointer gave the Leopards a 72-65 lead with 2:01 remaining, providing Lafayette some separation in a game in which neither team had led by more than six points. Jaworski made a layup for a 74-66 lead with 1:17 to go and the Leopards were not threatened in the final minute.
